Call for Submissions: Cool Spinning, Spin Off Magazine Spring 2019
Spring beckons us to get outdoors and plant a dye garden or put on a handspun pair of moisture-wicking wool socks and take a hike. New lambs join the flock, and fiber lovers gather at festivals, workshops, and retreats to reconnect with one another after a long winter. So let’s celebrate the season!
Some might think of spinning as an activity best suited to the colder fall and winter months, but here in the office of Spin Off magazine, we love to spin all year round. When the temperature begins to rise, what fiber is on your spindle or wheel? Do you turn to warm-weather fibers such as cotton, silk, and flax? Do you spin worsted yarns that drape for lightweight summer garments and accessories? Let us know what fibers and projects inspire you in spring! Or tell us what makes spinning hip and awesome—we’d love to hear that, too!
Whether you’re a new or returning contributor, we want to hear your article and handspun project ideas. Add your unique voice to Spin Off magazine by sharing your original ideas with our amazing fiber community.
We are looking for:
1. Feature articles: Intriguing stories, profiles of artisans and businesses, and histories of the craft that give our readers new insights into the world of fiber and yarn.
2. Handspun projects: Show how you transformed fiber into handspun yarn and finished items using knitting, weaving, crochet, or other techniques.
3. How-to articles: Tell us how you approach a particular technique, solve a spinning problem, or use a tool.
Spring 2019 submissions are due May 25, 2018.
Find contributor guidelines and a submissions form below and also on our Call for Submissions page. And as always, we welcome ideas that diverge from our theme, so send those to us, too!
