Three special visitors attended the October meeting of the Medina Spinning and Weaving Guild. Michael Romanoski and his daughter Celia gave a presentation about pygora fiber and brought one of their Pygora goats along to the meeting! Celia participates in her county's 4-H goat project and talked to guild members about her animals and characteristics of the breed. Michael showed the group how pygora fiber is processed and spun. The family has a farm, Koru Fiber and Dairy, in Wellington, Ohio, where they also raise French and Satin Angoras, Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, and KuneKune pigs.
The Pygora goat breed was developed by Katharine Jorgensen, a Pygmy goat breeder in Oregon City, Oregon. To learn more about the breed and this luscious fiber, visit the Pygora Breeders Association website.
