Visit Italy this Fall—Textiles, Fashion, Food

tuscany grapesWhy not treat yourself with a trip to Tuscany this fall?! It sounds like the trip of a lifetime. PieceWork Presents: a 10-day craft adventure trip to Tuscany with 2-nights in Milan through Craftours. Join other craft aficionados in exploring, sightseeing, and learning this fall October 22 through November 1.

The trip includes sightseeing and shopping in Pisa, San Gimignano, Milan, and Florence; a train ride through the beautiful Cinque Terre on the Italian Riviera; and a visit to Montecatini Terme, a spa town that attracts people from all over the world (it’s also well known for its waffles!). You will learn new skills with an authentic Tuscany cooking lesson and an Italian paper marbling workshop with a master artisan. No doubt you will enjoy the great local cuisine and sample a few wines along the way!

Tuscany-tatting-CROPTwo stops on the tour will definitely appeal to needlework lovers: the Pino Grasso Studio and School in Milan and the Aurifil Thread Factory, about 45 minutes from Milan in Solaro. Pino Grasso is world famous for high-fashion embroidery, much of which is seen on haute-couture fashion runways. In addition to the studio that produces the exquisite embroidery, the school offers three levels of instruction in embroidery. Aurifil makes cotton thread and floss for embroidery, sewing, and quilting.

Other experiences include a visit with master mosaic artisans and a trip to an Italian leather school. The package includes round-trip airfare from the United States, first-class hotel accommodations, daily breakfast and some dinners, and is led by professional tour guides and Craftours tour escorts with a private deluxe motor coach and driver. Texiles, fashion, food, and Italy—a dream come true.
