Yarn Shops in Northern Colorado
Interweave Yarn Fest is a Colorado institution, taking place in Loveland, Colorado, where Interweave was founded and formerly headquartered. Less than an hour north of Denver and not quite as far north as college town and LYS haven Fort Collins, CO, Loveland is a growing city within easy access of the entire Front Range region of Northern Colorado. Here are the local yarn shops within easiest reach of Loveland!
The Loopy Ewe 2.0 in Loveland, CO
With a start in the Gateway City, owner Sheri packed it in for Fort Collins over ten years ago, and brought her LYS with her. When Sheri decided to retire, The Loopy Ewe was purchased and recently reopened in Loveland as The Loopy Ewe 2.0. This is by far the closest yarn shop to Yarn Fest Loveland, and they have all kinds of fun notions and accessories in addition to a lovely yarn selection. Give this newly re-opened business some love!
Address: 1605 N. Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, CO
Hours: Mon, Wed, Fri, + Sat 10-5 and Thurs 10-8. Closed Sun + Mon.
Events for Knitters: The Loopy Ewe 2.0 hosts an in-person knit night on Thursdays, 6-8.
Local tip: From this yarn shop, you’re only a couple of miles from the Loveland Sculpture Garden. If the weather is nice, take your purchases to a bench in the garden and cast on! The shop is also just a mile from downtown Loveland, which has tons of restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops, as well as boutiques and thrift shops to explore.

Lambspun in Fort Collins, CO
A true Fort Collins institution, Lambspun is a haven for fiber lovers of all kinds, including knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, and felters. They teach tons of classes and make-and-take workshops. The property has deep roots, with a start as a farmhouse in 1937. Loaded with charm, it is in fact packed to the gills with a fiber-centric stock that will delight any yarn enthusiast. It’s also the yarn shop that served as the inspiration for Maggie Sefton’s knitting-themed murder mystery series, which starts with Knit One, Kill Two [affiliate link]!
Address: 1101 E. Lincoln Avenue, Fort Collins, CO
Hours: Tues-Sat 9-5. Closed Sun + Mon.
Events for Knitters: Lambspun has a loaded workshop schedule and hosts a free potluck on Thursdays, 12:30-3.
Local tip: In order to have the full Lambspun experience, you must dine on the same property at the Back Porch Cafe, a Fort Collins favorite.

My Sister Knits in Fort Collins, CO
Known around Fort Collins as “the one with the yarn bomb out front,” and also, “the one with the chickens,” and “the one with the shop dog,” and finally, “the one that’s in an old carriage house,” My Sister Knits wins in the quirky and absolutely lovable department. It’s run by two sisters, Julie and Diana, and they stock an amazing variety of yarn that you’ll want to explore all day long. We also particularly love their curated selection of buttons, gifts, and accessories.
Address: 1408 West Mountain Avenue, Fort Collins, CO
Hours: Tues 10-8 and Wed-Sat 10-5. Closed Sun + Mon.
Events for Knitters: Join them Tuesday night for a community knit night, or grab a skein and enjoy the great atmosphere anytime they’re open!
Local tip: Mountain Avenue in Fort Collins, where this shop sits, is one of the most pleasing drives in town. If you like old growth trees, craftsman style homes, and rolling through an idyllic setting at your leisure, by all means put this route on your to-do list. You’ll also find yourself very close to adorable downtown Fort Collins and its plethora of restaurants, breweries, and boutiques.

Longmont Yarn Shoppe in Longmont, CO
The cozy Longmont Yarn Shoppe is housed in a century-old building in adorable downtown Longmont. They’re all about community, offering many yarn-driven events and opportunities to learn. They invite you to join their Summer Yarn Club. They invite you to come along on a knitting retreat or take a class. And, they want to plug you into opportunities to knit for charitable causes. Just check out the photos from their recent Fashion Show, held on Main Street in Longmont!
Address: 454 Main Street, Longmont, CO
Hours: Tues-Thurs 10-5, Fri 10-6, Sat 10-5, and Sun 12-4. Closed Mon.
Events for Knitters: All that we mentioned above, plus Community Handwork on Tuesday afternoons. Also, join the Longmont Yarn Shoppe for live online events Sundays at 4pm and for “Fiberside Chats” with various designers and creators.
Local tip: if you’re up for dirt on your shoes, spectacular views, and the feeling of wilderness in-the-round, look no further than the trail system that makes Boulder County one of the best places for outdoor enthusiasts in the United States. I encourage you to start with Rabbit Mountain.
Local Yarn Shops of Denver
If you’re flying into Interweave Yarn Fest and your schedule allows it, be sure to stop by one of these yarn shops on your way from or back to the airport! There are too many Denver yarn shops to name them all, but here are a few favorites.

Fancy Tiger Crafts Co-Op in Denver, CO
As the name implies, Fancy Tiger is more than a yarn store. This popular, crafterly destination is a feast for the eyes with yarns, fabrics, spinning fibers, and more from floor to ceiling. Among the rainbows of materials, you’ll discover great notions and accessories you won’t see anywhere else. For the yarn lovers, Fancy Tiger carries many popular labels such as Spincycle, La Bien Aimee, Neighborhood Fibre Co., and others, allowing you to see first hand why so many people loves these dyers.
Address: 59 Broadway, Denver, CO
Hours: Mon + Wed-Fri 11-6. Sat + Sun 10-5.
Events for Knitters: Their Community Craft Night is Tuesdays at 5pm! They also offer tons of classes across knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting, and embroidery.
Local tip: Lollygag over to either Baere Brewing Company or TRVE Brewing Co., both in the same Denver neighborhood as Fancy Tiger Crafts.

If you’re driving into Yarn Fest Loveland from another state, one of these shops might be on your way!

Cowgirl Yarn in Laramie, WY
The college town of Laramie, Wyoming sits about 80 miles away from the Yarn Fest Loveland venue. Here in the West we call that, “Not so far.” The location is a windswept piece of wild that sits on the edge of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. Winters are long, and not everyone who lands here can bear it. But Cowgirl Yarn owner Lori Kirk makes the most of being remote, and has created a treasure trove for lovers of yarn and craft. Visit their website to get a look into Cowgirl Yarn culture, including Wyoming-made yarns!

Hours: Mon 10-5, Tues 12-7, Wed + Thurs 11-6, Fri 11-5, Sat 10-5, closed Sun.
Events for Knitters: They offer a variety of classes, and are open later on Tuesdays.
Local tip: if you find yourself in Laramie, a visit to the story-rich, historic Buckhorn Bar is in order, as is settling in for a bite at Altitude Chophouse & Brewery.
