Who doesn't need some tweed?!

One of the stories in Knitscene Fall has to do with Tweed. We lobbied to shoot this particular story in Scotland but alas, it was not in the stars. To set the tone, one of our photographers played fantastic bagpipe music on his phone throughout the shoot. We used our imaginations. We pretended we were in the Scottish Highlands. The nights here in Colorado are getting cool, I can tell that fall will be making a welcome appearance soon (along with the advent of pumpkin flavored everything…yes!). What better way to get in an autumn state of mind than with a good, tweedy, knitting project to keep those chills at bay, whether you're in Scotland or not?

Baleshare Cardigan by Jessica Bolof

This blanket coat is knit in lightweight and cozy yarn (HiKoo Kenzie) and has beautiful drape. Knit in one piece, this is an ideal fall sweater, pairing perfectly with jeans and dresses alike.

Glenveagh Mitts by Hope Vickman

Herringbone stitch + tweed yarn = love. Rowan Fine Tweed shines in these fingerless mitts, which feature delicate buttons at the wrists for some timeless class.

Callanish Cardigan by Marianne Hobart

The classic jacket silhouette comes to life in this cardigan, featuring pockets, statement cuffs, and a double-breasted front. Tahki Yarns Tara Tweed brings both color and texture to life.

Bluestack Sweater by Rene Dickey

The colors and shapes in this sweater are eye-catching and fun, and the slightly puffed sleeves add soft femininity. Intarsia makes it all possible, and Queensland Collection Rustic Tweed adds beautiful nuance.

Ballyshannon Cardigan

by Ramona Gaynor

Top down construction, raglan shaping, and beautiful cabling make this a fun and engaging sweater to knit. Plus it has a wide shawl collar, fantastic for fall and winter weather. Berocco Blackstone Tweed brings beautiful color and texture to the finished piece.

Berneray Pullover by Faye Kennington

Garter rib accents and fantastic fit make this a sweater everyone should have in their wardrobe. The shawl collar and three quarter sleeves bring enduring style to this pullover, and the beautiful gradation of Harrisville Designs Watershed is downright stunning.

Happy (fall) knitting!
