Vienne Sweater

Vienne is constructed from the top down, with set in sleeves worked simultaneously with the upper bodice. Front and back v-neck lace edging is worked into the pattern as you go.

Yarn Worsted weight (#4 Medium). Shown here: GGH Bel Air (90% merino, 10% nylon; 142 yd [130 m]/50 g): #9 terra cotta, 6 (6, 7, 8) balls.
Needles Body and sleeves—size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm) one 16” and two 24” (60 cm) circular (cir). Cuffs—size U.S. 5 (3.75 mm) set of 4 or 5 double-pointed (dpn). Provisional cast-on—size U.S. 6 (4 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers (m); removable markers; stitch holders; smooth cotton waste yarn for provisional cast-on; size G/6 (4.25 mm) crochet hook; tapestry needle.
Gauge 20 stitches and 31 rows/rounds = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette stitch on largest needles; 11 to 16 stitches of diagonal lace patterns from charts average 2½” (6.5 cm) wide on largest needles.
