Sneak Peek: Nettle Soft from Ancient Arts Yarn
[Sponsored] It’s always a treat to get yarn in from Ancient Arts. Not only do they have lovely hand dyes, but their yarns are often interesting in a way that few others are. The latest yarn, Nettle Soft, is no exception.
Sneak Peek: Meet Ancient Arts Yarn’s Nettle Soft
Fiber Nation host Allison Korleski previews some of the yarn’s stunning colorways, discusses project ideas, and shares what happened when she wore a swatch against her skin for a week (hint, the yarn is called “Nettle Soft” for a reason!).
We had heard of nettle yarn, but assumed it was some crunchy, crusty thing like jute with a bad attitude. Surprise! Nettle is a bast fiber (like linen or hemp) but feels more like silk. Nettle Soft yarn is a blend of 68% superwash Merino wool and 32% nettle and feels wonderful right next to the skin.

The yarn comes in both DK- and fingering-weights and would be great in accessories or garments. It’s more drapey than boingy, so keep that in mind when picking a pattern. (No socks. Just don’t.)
Norah Gaughan’s Murray Pullover is a wonderful project that shows Ancient Arts hand-dyed yarn to perfection.
So, if you’re looking for a cool new yarn to try, definitely check out Nettle Soft!
Happy knitting,
Allison
