Small Biz Saturday: My Sister Knits
Happy Small Business Saturday! Today we are highlighting an LYS in Fort Collins, Colorado, My Sister Knits. This shop is actually a carriage house behind the owner’s home nestled on a quaint street near Old Town Fort Collins.
Just walking through the back yard—through a small gate, past the chickens to the front door of the brick shop—is an experience on its own. The second you walk in the door and take a look around, feelings of home, comfort, and warmth wash over you. This is one of the most charming yarn shops I’ve ever been in and believe every knitter must visit at least once if they can.
On this particular evening, Sandy from Shibui Knits was visiting and teaching a class, with many a knitter gathered around the main table on the ground floor. The upstairs is a cozy and quieter space, with another worktable at which three knitters were quietly clicking away.
The wooden shelves throughout My Sister Knits are filled with a curated collection of the finest yarns we love so much, arranged beautifully by brand and color. The friendly crew is committed to helping knitters and crocheters find just the right yarn for a project, and become stronger at their craft. They have classes and trunk shows and general goings-on that keep the place a very active one! They even recently had their second annual knitting retreat at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. Spooky!
If you are in the Fort Collins area this week, the shop is offering 30% off to anyone who brings in items such as clothing to donate to charity on Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving.
If you’re not around to visit this week, I highly encourage you to come around sometime when you are in the area. Visit the My Sister Knits website to see their full list of yarns, upcoming events and classes, read their blog, and learn more about the women (and the dog!) behind My Sister Knits.
