Shepherds Harvest Fiber Festival
The Shepherds Harvest Fiber Festival is the largest fiber event in all of Minnesota. Each year, this festival draws in over 100 vendors, multiple industry designers, and crowds of enthusiasts ready to share their love for fiber. Deb Schaber, executive director of the Shepherds Harvest Fiber Festival, took some time to answer my questions about her wonderful event.
Gus: Tell me about the history of the Shepherds Harvest Festival?
Deb: Shepherd’s Harvest Sheep and Wool Festival is Minnesota’s premier event for wool and sheep lovers, the largest fiber festival in the state. Over 100 vendors of fiber and fiber animal related products show their wares at the Festival through a juried selection of vendors of unique products. If its fiber related, you probably will find a vendor with just what you have been looking for. Numerous classes are offered in the fiber arts – geared for all levels of experience – from the beginner to the expert. Each year, we offer some classes in the less well-known fiber arts so students can expand their crafts expertise. Don’t miss over 25 demonstrations and exhibits and get a firsthand look at a wide variety of sheep & Llama breeds.
Gus: Pretend you are talking to someone who has never been to your fiber festival, what would you highlight as your “WOW” attractions?
Deb: The Shepherds Harvest Festival truly has something for everyone and especially your mom on mother’s day! We have several breeds of sheep, llamas, rabbits and even a yak on display. There are over 120 vendors selling products and over 30 FREE demos from shearing to spinning wool into a skein.
