Pattern of the Week: Sweet Dreams Pullover

Autumn is such a wonderful season for knitting. While I will happily pick up my needles year-round, once the weather starts to turn colder and the days grow darker, it feels particularly appropriate to curl up on my couch with my tea, a blanket, and my knitting.

Interweave Knits Fall 2019 celebrates the fall season with cozy sweaters, sumptuous shawls, and enchanting accessories to keep you knitting all season long. And what better piece to start with than Paula Pereira’s luxurious Sweet Dreams Pullover.

The sweater is knit using Jo Sharp Classic DK Wool in a gorgeous, deep cranberry color which lets the texture of the pullover really shine. The 100% wool yarn is perfect for the colder temperatures of the darker half of the year. The top-down sweater uses a ribbed turtleneck, giving the neckline some delightful structure that is mirrored in the ribbing at the bottom of the sweater.

I absolutely fell in love with this pullover. The elegant, oversized style is both relaxed and sophisticated, pairing well with professional slacks or relaxed leggings. The pattern is simple enough to be approachable, but gives pops of texture at the bottom, neck, and sleeves. Just look at those sleeves! Designer Paula Pereira uses an I-cord to bind off the sleeves, then stretches above the bind-off during blocking to give them that beautiful, bell-like appearance. This sweater is honestly magical: simple, elegant, and ready for the chilly autumn days ahead.

Remember to count your stitches!

A nice cozy looking sweater. BUT I have to ask why, why, why the photo stylists show a pattern with the arms all scrunched up?! I’d like to see how the sweater hangs on the body. I’ve seen worse pictures (sitting down with elbows on knees is a pretty bad position), but please – SHOW the whole sweater!
