Pattern of the Week: Fudge Swirls Scarf
I’m having a love affair with cables. Maybe it’s all the recent talk of polar vortexes that makes me want to curl up with my knitting while cuddling up with some super-squarshy fabric. The Fudge Swirls Scarf from Coffeehouse Knits fits the bill for both.
Knitted in a creamy Bluefaced Leicester wool, the scarf features a triple twist of undulating cables that are remarkably simple to knit. This is a great project to knit in public: undemanding enough so as not to interfere with socializing, but impressive enough to get admiring comments from strangers. Optional fringe lets you add some swagger, should you so desire.
One note: If you are short like me, this project is rather . . . ample. If you fear it might turn you into Ralphie from A Christmas Story, don’t hesitate to use a lighter yarn or shorten it by a repeat or two. Either way, you’ll be stunningly swathed in luxurious warmth.
