Meet Sandi Rosner: Interweave’s New Technical Content Editor for Yarn

Knitting pattern, project, notions, and a keyboard
Let the Interweave Knits Winter 2024 issue transport you to a winter wonderland of cozy knits! This remarkable edition features 14 extraordinary projects to immerse yourself in the uniqueness of specially crafted yarns.

Hello! I’m Sandi Rosner, and I am thrilled to have joined the Interweave team in May as the new Technical Content Editor for Yarn. I’m grateful to Joni Coniglio for setting such a high standard of excellence during the more than a decade she spent as Interweave’s Technical Editor.

I’ve already begun digging into the patterns planned for upcoming issues, working with the designers to make sure the instructions in the magazine are accurate, user-friendly, and true to the designer’s intent. We have some gorgeous projects headed your way!

I’m also excited to announce a new regular feature in our newsletters: Ask the Experts! One of my favorite parts of knitting and crochet is figuring out why the stitches work the way they do. Along with that comes figuring out why good projects goes wrong, and how to get them back on track. I’ll be popping into your inbox regularly to answer your questions and help you solve your knitting and crochet problems.

Ask the Experts

Of course, this depends on your being part of the conversation. Send your questions to knitting@goldenpeakmedia.com and crochet@goldenpeakmedia.com. Put “Ask the Experts” in the subject line. Wondering why the edges of your scarf are untidy? Include a photo! Curious about the pros and cons of different cast-ons? I have opinions, and I can back them up with swatches. I won’t be able to answer every email individually, but the most common (or interesting) questions will feed future installments of Ask the Experts.

About Sandi

As strange as it feels to write this in the first person, let me tell you a little about myself. I’ve been a knitter and crocheter for more than 45 years. My mother taught me to crochet when I was small. I learned to knit from the instructions in the back of a magazine in the late 1970’s, long before on-line learning became a thing. Since then, I’ve owned a local yarn store, been the creative director of a large yarn company, and worked as a freelance technical editor, designer, teacher and writer.

I’ve written 4 pattern books, the most recent of which is 21 Crocheted Tanks + Tunics: Stylish Designs for Every Occasion (Stackpole; 2016—affiliate link).

A couple of my designs have been included in Interweave publications over the years. The Cutaway Coat was in the Premier issue of knit.wear back in 2011. The Knits Gifts issue in 2008 included my design for the Brick Stitch Tea Cozy.

While I currently live just outside Charlotte, North Carolina, the San Francisco Bay Area will always be my home. When I’m not knitting and crocheting, I spin, read, sew and follow SF Giants baseball. I love live theater and can frequently be found in the audience at a jazz club.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you with your knitting and crochet questions! Remember to put Ask the Experts in the subject line, and include photos if that helps to explain your question.
