Lucky Socks

These socks were designed for men (though they’re great for women too!). The kind of men you just can't knit anything else for. He might be your brother, husband, son, boyfriend, best friend, or anyone really. He wears t-shirts, jeans, athletic socks, sneakers, and the occasional hoodie or jacket when it gets cold. He won't appreciate a warm hat or a soft scarf. He won't wear a sweater, gloves, or fun socks, and who just doesn't rate a blanket (or he does, and you don’t have the time). Yeah, these are for him.

Step 1. Get your softest, machine washable, neutral colored yarn ready.

Step 2. Knit these socks.

Step 3: Tell him these are his Lucky Socks for interviews, presentations, fancy dinners out, or anything where he has to dress up.

Don't worry, we'll convert him yet!

1. What was the inspiration for your submitted pattern?

My husband is a very hard person to knit for. He doesn't tend to wear cardigans, sweaters, or vests, isn't a fan of owning more scarves or hats than he needs (one of each, thankyouverymuch), and doesn't go for interesting socks. He also has big feet. I had to find a way to give him the socks he'd like while making them interesting enough for me to actually knit them and be proud of them when finished.

2. Was the design process smooth or did you run into any struggles?

Luckily this process was smooth. I picked the type of pattern I wanted, the cuff, heel, and toe I thought would work best, and a plain sock yarn.

3. What was the most valuable lesson you learned along the way?

Sometimes giving someone exactly what they want is worth the work!
