Samples, magazines, and the Interweave Community Scarf at the Loveland 2023 Maker Festivals event
Let the Interweave Knits Winter 2024 issue transport you to a winter wonderland of cozy knits! This remarkable edition features 14 extraordinary projects to immerse yourself in the uniqueness of specially crafted yarns.

We couldn’t be more excited to be in Loveland, CO, for the first Maker Festivals event of 2023, featuring Yarn Fest and Stitch Fest. We’re just a couple days into the show and we’ve already had amazing moments that we just have to share. The buzz of students in the hallways and their excited-to-learn smiles make the months of planning worth it! And we were so excited to kick off our marketplace yesterday.

Did you miss our recap yesterday? We shared highlights from setup and more!

What’s Happening in Loveland

Master Classes: A Deep Dive into Special Skills

Tuesday saw the kickoff of our first ever master-level classes. Kyle Kunnecke and Terri Guerette were in the house to take their students on deep dives into colorwork knitting and spinning for lace. After class, we made our way to dinner at a favorite local spot in Loveland—Door 222.

Master class students enjoyed dinner together after their first day of learning.

Sue M., a student in Kyle’s Conquering Colorwork class, shared at dinner how intimidated she was when she first signed up for a “master” class. Her experience in class was that she had nothing to worry about, even the most experienced knitters in her class were learning new things. Kay P., another colorwork student, commented that she felt like a sponge absorbing all the experience around her. From Terri’s lace spinning class, Georgia P.’s favorite part of the day was when the whole class worked together to untangle a knot of lace-weight yarn!

Classes: Knitting, Crochet, Spinning, Sewing, Quilting, and Needlework

It’s always fun in the rotunda of the Embassy Suites around 8:30 AM. Students fill the halls as they make their way to workshops. This year they had their choice of a variety of crafts with the addition of Stitch Fest. From grading garments for those who enjoy sewing their own clothes to Dorset buttons to seamless sweater construction and more, so much learning happens at Maker Festivals.

Marketplace: Shopping, Fashion Show, Demos, and More!

The doors are open to shop! As vendors set up on Wednesday, staff found it hard to resist getting a jump on the shopping. But don’t worry, we’ve saved it all for you! Some of our favorite vendors are back this year along with some exciting new faces.

We also had fun at our first fashion show on the show floor which showed off garments from Knits Spring 23 and offered a sneak peek at Knits Summer 23. And our sewing team was there as well to share the beautiful designs featured in the pages of Sew News magazine. You can find the Sew News team and others at the Measuring Station near the stage, too. There you can have industry pros take your measurements (for free!) so you can put your new workshop knowledge to work for you and get a great fit on your next garment.

Community Center: Be a Part of Maker Festivals

The Interweave Community Scarf is back for another year of stitching and joining it is a new community quilting project—a signature quilt! Those who participate sew a small quilt block and sign their name to it. Those small blocks are joined together to create larger pinwheels which make up the larger quilt. It’s colorful, fun, and growing—just like our community!

When attendees stop by the community area they can grab complimentary copies of knitting, quilting, and sewing magazines, too. And this year we’ve started our Maker Festivals community map. So far, we have students and instructors from all over North America. We are looking forward to adding more colorful dots at each event this year.

We hope to see you at one of our 2023 Maker Festivals, whether this week in Loveland or later this year! Learn more about our future Yarn Fest events and our future Stitch Fest events and get them on your calendar.

We hope to add your dot to our Maker Festivals Map at Loveland or in the future!

Stay tuned for more highlights from our Loveland event throughout the week from your Yarn Fest and Stitch Fest team!
