knit.wear Fall/Winter 2018: Geode Tunic
Tunics are a key part of my diabolical plan to always feel like I’m wearing pajamas, while looking like I’ve dressed up for a day at the office. Annie Lupton’s Geode Tunic from knit.wear Fall/Winter 2018 has moved right up to the top of my knitting queue because it’s stylish, flattering, and, most importantly, comfortable. I can’t wait to pair it with each of my leggings in turn this winter!
This tunic knitting pattern is part of the Modern Fair Isle story from this gorgeous issue, and I absolutely love the unique colorwork detail at the bottom. Geode-inspired Art Deco motifs in a rich shade of eggplant pair, along with constrasting cuffs and an I-cord neckband keep the eye moving across the tweedy stockinette body.
To make the Geode Tunic, you’ll start with that gorgeous colorwork band, knitting in the round from the bottom up to the underarm. You’ll then work the front and back separately with short-row shaping, seam the shoulders, and pick up sleeves in the round. It’s simple construction with lots of stockinette, so you can work through this large project quickly.
You’ll savor every stitch because this yarn is so very special. Trendsetter Yarns Pure Collection Savona is a 100% recycled wool yarn in a fingering weight. The three tweed colorways used in this project, latte, eggplant, and camel, complement each other beautifully for an understated yet sophisticated look.
You’ve got lots of knitting to do if you want to whip up the Geode Tunic in time to wear this year! Get started by picking up a copy of knit.wear Fall/Winter 2018 today.
