knitscene Winter 2018: Pocono Cocoon
Oversized tops and wraps of all kinds are all the rage right now, and here at Interweave we’re not immune to the trend! We’re all in with oversized sweaters, shawls the size of blankets (we call them “shlankets”), and other things that make you feel comfy and cozy. If you’re digging this trend, you’ll want to cast on for the Pocono Cocoon from knitscene Winter 2018.
This giant rectangular wrap embodies the best things about the oversized garment trend: it’s cute, it’s cozy, and it’s easy to make. This piece, which is essentially a very oversized shrug, is a super simple knit made with a simple lace stitch. It’s worked back and forth from the bottom up, and then the sides are seamed to create the armholes. If you’re new to lace, or if traditional lace patterns aren’t your jam, you’ll love this basic charted lace pattern—it’s easy enough for beginners, and it creates a chevron-style lace that’s super fresh and modern.
Made in Stitch Sprouts Crater Lake, a 100% superwash Merino wool, this wrap is super-soft and cozy. Its oversized silhouette is flattering to all body types, and it’s a really versatile piece: wear it over wide-leg pants and a long-sleeve shirt to the office, throw it on over your jeans on the weekend, or snuggle up in it in your yoga pants on the couch. However you wear it, you’ll be cozy and fashionable!
