knitscene Winter 2018: Morehead Pullover

When the coldest months of winter set in, sometimes you just need a sweater that’s unabashedly warm. The Morehead Pullover, designed by Moon Eldridge for knitscene Winter 2018, uses a slipped garter-stitch pattern with two colors to create a textured, double-thick fabric that will keep the most frigid of winter winds at bay.

I’m one of those people who are perpetually cold. I keep a blanket at my desk and wear it all year round, but that doesn’t help me when I have to get up at my desk. I’ve been the market for a cuddly sweater to keep at my desk for a while now, and I think the Morehead Pullover perfectly fits the bill.

Colorwork is always a great way to get a warmer fabric, as the yarn floats close up all the little holes that usually exist between stitches. But the warmth-keeping features don’t stop there! An oversized silhouette allows you to layer with abandon and traps a thick layer of warm air next to your body. This cozy pullover knitting pattern also has cuffed, ribbed sleeves to keep a chill from sneaking up your sleeve.

But the Morehead Pullover isn’t all function and no form—this design is also cute as can be! Curved side seams create an unusual split hem that’s longer in the back for a cute, casual fit.
