knitscene Winter 2018: Bricktown Hat
Keep the Bricktown Hat in your queue for that chilly winter afternoon you want to spend watching the snowfall, knitting, and sipping hot cocoa. In fact, check out the rest of knitscene Winter 2018 for decadent winter knitting to feed your soul and warm your hands.
This quick knit will delight just about any knitter—it’s luxurious knitting from the ribbed brim to the fun pom-pom and you get to work fun cables and bobbles through the body of the hat. That polished brim is all thanks to a tubular cast-on (if you need a tubular cast-on refresher we’ve got your back) that is so worth learning.
And you’ll have the pleasure of working with Malabrigo’s Chunky yarn. Chunky is a bulky-weight yarn made from merino wool that comes in over 50 colors.
If you haven’t knit with Malabrigo yarn yet you need to give it a go. Every time I shop for yarn I end up leaving with a few skeins of Malabrigo. I love their pricing, their wide range of yarn weights, and their vibrant color selection.
The Bricktown Hat is a perfect project to try out a new yarn. It only needs two skeins, is knit from the brim up, and can be knit in an afternoon.
