knitscene Summer 2018: Sandbar Tank

The Sandbar Tank was designed with simplicity in mind. It’s a straightforward project to knit, as well as a no-fuss summer wardrobe staple. With ribbing at the hem, a stockinette-stitch body, and no body shaping, it’s great for a knitter of any skill level. You can incorporate the tank into casual, comfortable outfits for everyday wear, or dress it up a bit with fancy pants for a special event.

The Sandbar Tank is worked in the round to avoid any seaming, from the bottom up to the lower edge of the underarm, and then the upper front and back are worked separately. The neckline and armholes are finished using a single crochet stitch, which helps to reinforce them as well as giving them a finished edge. Finish the tank by making tassels to tie up on top of your shoulders, which helps give the whole look a flirty vibe.

Although this pattern uses a worsted weight yarn, the blend is spring and summer friendly. The Plucky Knitter Lodge Worsted yarn is merino wool, cotton, linen, and silk, with ample yardage per skein. Pick your favorite Plucky Knitter colorway (there are hundreds to choose from) and knit what will become your favorite summer tank. In fact, get to work on many of the sweet summer wardrobe staples found in knitscene Summer 2018.
