knitscene Summer 2018: Pyrra Shawl

A summer shawl that can take you through any season, the Pyrra Shawl by Stefanie Sichler from knitscene Summer 2018 is a laid-back piece you need to get on your needles.

Its inspiration comes from Stefanie’s childhood summers, drawing from the welcoming blue skies, breezy wheat fields, and vibrant trees of rural Germany. It also reminds me of my time in Hanover, Germany, a beautiful city full of charming buildings and walking paths along wildlife trails and farms. The rich blue and soft green of this shawl fit perfectly in my mind’s re-creation.

You can walk and take public transit everywhere (far more easily than a place like New York). And it’s a great town to spend a couple days in and really explore without the worry of feeling in the way like you can in a busier city. And I can imagine my return trip featuring this shawl prominently.

The Pyrra Shawl is a triangular shawl featuring an allover lace pattern, thick stripes, and tassels. And the yarn, Classic Elite Yarns Mika, is pure organic cotton, offering just enough warmth to cooling ration in warmer weather.

Mika is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) certified organic and the dye materials they use meet REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) regulations. It’s an all around feel-good knit and I hope you like it as much as I do.
