Knits Gifts 2018: Liam the Llama

Brenda K. B. Anderson’s knitted animal designs shine throughout this issue, but Liam the Llama is my absolute favorite! He’s made from Sugar Bush Yarns Rapture (50% LlamaSoft and 50% superfine merino), so he’s extra cuddly and fluffy . . . and yes, he is made with llama yarn! (Almost as though the editors planned it!)

I’m always on the hunt for great projects to knit or crochet as holiday gifts. The adorable knitted animals in this issue are perfect for children and adults. The animals are cute enough for kids to cuddle and play with, while stylish enough to place on a holiday couch for some added festive décor. I don’t know a person who wouldn’t accept these little animals with joy!

Liam the Llama is my favorite. I can’t get over his cute, sleepy eyelids; his adorable holiday hat; and the fact he is made from llama fiber The secret to his adorable construction is the use of a smaller-than-usual needle for this worsted weight yarn. This ensures that none of his stuffing will be visible through his knitted stitches and that he’ll keep his structure. I love Liam so much that we might need a crocheted version of the adorable animal. Crocheters, stay tuned! We have an exciting creature coming!

Liam the Llama is first on my list of creatures I can’t wait to make. Knits Gifts 2018 is filled with adorableness, so it will be tough deciding what to make next!
