The 7 Knits You Need for Festival Season

It’s festival season! Whatever you’re interested in, there’s sure to be a festival for it this summer. Music, fiber, food, beer, biking, the Renaissance—there are gatherings galore celebrating our wonderful and varied world. But no matter what type of festival you’re attending this summer, there’s one universal truth: it will be hot. And you will be uncomfortable unless you plan your outfit carefully.

I’m attending several festivals this summer, so I’ve been thinking of projects I can make that will help keep me cool and comfortable on those blazing summer days. Here are my top picks!

1. Flagstaff Tee

I love a good knitted tee or tank top, and this lovely project from Interweave Knits Summer 2018 is one of my favorites. This sleeveless top is beautiful, functional, and wonderfully breathable, thanks to the wool/silk blend yarn. Wear it with a cute lacy bralette for a low-key but fashionable look.

2. Sandbar Tank

You’ve been working hard at the gym, so show off those shoulders with the Sandbar Tank! This super-simple knit from Knitscene Summer 2018 is lightweight and comfy and features an easy finish so you can get it off your needles and on your body in time for the first festival of the season.

3. Kingston Tank

This is one of my favorite tank tops! With openwork lace at its sides, neckline, and back, this lovely tank from Interweave Knits Summer 2016 is an absolute stunner, and the 100% cotton yarn means you’ll keep cool while you’re sitting under the blazing sun listening to your favorite band. Try it over a flowy skirt for a relaxed vibe.

4. Escape Bag

If you’re heading to an all-day festival, you need a bag to hold your essentials! The Escape Bag from Knitscene Summer 2018 fits the bill perfectly: it’s big enough to hold everything you need, and the sewn-in lining and metal grommets make it sturdy enough for all your festival adventures.

5. Jammer Shorts

I couldn’t make this list without including a pair of knitted shorts! These beauties from Knitscene Summer 2017 look like denim from a distance but are far superior to your average jorts. They’re highly breathable thanks to the nylon/cotton/silk yarn, and the knitted fabric is much stretchier than denim, so you’ll be comfy sitting on the grass or dancing to the music!

Get in touch with your feminine side in this darling tank top from Warm Days, Cool Knits. The lace at the neckline and hem is perfectly placed to show off just the right amount of skin. Pair this delicate tank with a patterned skirt or some capris for a classic summer look.
