Knit the Periphery Shawl With Your Eyes Closed

The all-new, digital-only issue of knitscene Accents 2018 is fully loaded with all sorts of accessory projects. The aim for this issue was to include a range of accessories that vary in technique, difficulty level, and style, so that there is something for everyone. We ended up with an issue of 20 projects and poppy photography with beginner to advanced projects. The Periphery Shawl is on the simpler end, and knitted with super-soft luxury yarn.

My goal for this shawl project was to create something that didn’t take a lot of time or thought, but that would end up as a regular accessory you could throw on with multiple outfits and over seasons. It’s easy to wear, easy to knit, and it’s super soft and warm. The three tassels on the corners add a bit of interest and also weight it down so it can stay in place when you wrap it around your neck and shoulders. It’s mostly stockinette stitch, with some rows of double-yarn overs to make it just a little drapier and airier. Thanks to the size 10 needles used for this project, it knits up super-quick.

So, if you’re looking for a fast accessory project for you or for a gift, and you want to mindlessly knit up something quickly while you binge your latest show on Netflix, the Periphery Shawl is a great project for you.
