What You’ll Learn

The Reversible Undulating Waves Scarf with Laura Nelkin
The Reversible Undulating Waves Scarf is a gorgeous beaded scarf that’s perfect for taking your knitting to the next level. It is based on a beaded reversible lace stitch that is worked on both the knit and purl sides of the fabric. This double-sided lace allows the beads to float on the yarn-overs, creating waves of “bling.” In this workshop, Laura covers choosing yarn for working with beads, shopping for beads, working lace with beads, reading charts, and some advanced lace knitting techniques.

Length: 3 hours

Skill Level: Intermediate to advanced – How to knit and purl, work lace, how to read a pattern

Introduction to Twined Knitting with Beth Brown-Reinsel
Curious about the 400 year-old Swedish technique of Twined Knitting? In this three hour class, knit one of a pair of wristers while learning a traditional cast-on, twined knitting, twined purling, and patterning (the “O” stitch, the Crook stitch). Learn how to manage your yarns so that untwisting becomes a cinch! Reading Twined Knitting charts is also included.

Length: 3 hours

Skill Level: Intermediate

About Your Knitting Instructors

Laura Nelkin
Laura Nelkin lives in upstate New York, where the sunny season is short, leaving plenty of time to be indoors knitting. Though she has a degree in apparel design from Cornell University, she took to knitting years ago and hasn’t looked back. Laura is currently enamored with lace, and with incorporating beads into knitted jewelry, so most of her designs lean in this direction. She travels often to teach these techniques and more at workshops around the country. Laura has a line of knitting kits, self-publishes patterns, and runs mystery Knit-A-Longs multiple times a year. Her first book, KnockOut Knits, was released in September 2014.

Beth Brown-Reinsel
Beth Brown-Reinsel has been passionately teaching knitting workshops nationally, as well as internationally, for over 20 years. Her book Knitting Ganseys has been deemed a classic and will be re-published in a new expanded edition in 2018. She completed her first DVD Knitting Ganseys with Beth Brown-Reinsel in 2010 and released another on Color Knitting in 2014. She loves to prowl the storage section of museums around the world to look at old knitted things for inspiration for her patterns and classes. Her articles and designs have appeared in Threads, Cast On, Interweave Knits, Shuttle, Spindle, and Dye Pot, Vogue Knitting, and Knitters magazines. She continues to design for her own pattern line Knitting Traditions. Beth’s website, blog, and eNewsletter can be found at She lives in Vermont and loves winter!
