About the Knitting Clinic with Lorilee Beltman

Spend five days and four nights with the wonderfully talented, knowledgeable and gifted Lorilee Beltman. Lorilee will tackle your knitting obstacles with you side by side.

As you enjoy your knitting more and make improvements along the way, what are the issues that still bother you? For this knitting clinic, you get to email Lorilee ahead of time. Ask those questions. Make your concerns known. Our time together will be tailored around the groups’ needs while we learn from the instructor and each other. Ask lots of questions and share information. Open to all skill levels.

Lorilee will also be designing a special pattern just for this retreat!  You will receive the yarn for the pattern in your gift bag.

Here are suggestions from Lorilee of things we might get to:

Making our knitting more even.
Cabling without a cable needle.
Tips for keeping track of where you are in a pattern without having to take so many notes as you knit.
Compare different increases and decreases and know when to use which.
Getting over our fear of- blocking? -knitting a sweater? -working in the round? – seaming?
Learning more than one cast on and bind off.
Explore Double Knitting

If you like these ideas, let Lorilee know, but she looks forward to your suggestions even more. We will have designated class time, but please know Lorilee is available any time throughout our adventure together.

Materials: Yarn will be provided in your Gift Bags  but if you have a personal preference bring 50 grams of worsted weight wool or wool blend that is friendly for learning. Bring a couple needles size US 5 to 8, with at least one being a 32 inch long circular needle. Tapestry needle.

About the Sleeping Lady Resort

Sleeping Lady Resort and the land it occupies enjoy a rich and storied past. From the area’s Native American roots, to the 1930s when it was home to Camp Icicle and the Civilian Conservation Corps, to its role today as a leading Northwest destination – Sleeping Lady embodies the natural beauty and history of Leavenworth and the Wenatchee Valley.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Cascade Mountains and nestled on the banks of Icicle Creek, Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort provides a natural setting for a relaxing, engaging and memorable retreat.

We will meet in Seattle,WA and travel east  by coach for the beautiful ride through some of the most scenic vista in Washington State.

The Kingfisher Restaurant & Wine Bar

All of our Gourmet meals will be created with the freshest local ingredients, many from Sleeping Lady’s own two-acre organic garden. Meals are chef’s choice and are served in Kingfisher’s relaxed lodge-style setting which features exposed wood beams, river rock, and sweeping views of Icicle Canyon. In the summer months, the terrace and the creekside meadow are available for outdoor seating. (Dietary needs can be accommodated.)

An extensive wine list highlights local favorites and complements the menu, featuring eighteen wines by the glass.

Additional Activities

Day trip to Leavenworth, Washington:

Spend the day in the beautiful town of Leavenworth, with scenery to die for and architecture from southern Germany. One simple drive through this area and you’d be forgiven for thinking you had inadvertently entered a portal and exited into the Swiss Alps in Europe. The town has several great shops fit for anyone interested in exploring them, and several beautiful places to walk through .The restaurants also run the gamut of styles, and a genuine German style beer is never far from reach.

In Leavenworth, you don’t just shop…you discover.  Unearth imported treasures you expect to find in the Bavarian Village: nutcrackers, cuckoo clocks, beer steins, music boxes, and holiday decorations, of course.  But linger…to smell our handcrafted soaps and candles. Swirl and sip our budding wineries. Let our specialty chocolates, cheeses, meats and sweets dance across your tongue.  Run your fingers across our boutique clothing, fine china, and jewelry. Get geared up for your next run, hike, ski, or bike through our backyard we call the Cascades. It’s all here, all for you.
