Interweave Knits Summer 2018: Arkansas River Pullover

I imagine my boyfriend in almost all of the men’s sweaters from Interweave Knits. (I don’t know if I’ve just announced something creepily embarrassing or something you can relate to, but there’s no taking it back.) I would love to knit him the Arkansas River Pullover by Irina Anikeeva from Knits Summer 2018, as it would look great on him, but tragically, he does NOT wear sweaters. He’s a snuggly T-shirt-wearing furnace who keeps me warm all year round and he would probably die of heat exhaustion if I made him wear a sweater. So I’ve come up with a new goal for myself: to get over my fear of wearing menswear and knit this sweater for myself!

I LOVE the look of stylized menswear; it’s everyday wearable but usually has a unique twist that changes a classic piece into a truly one-of-a-kind item. Plus, just think: with menswear, there are no fiddly increases and decreases for your bust, no too-tight areas that show the bits you’re embarrassed about, just billowy, cozy warmth that you can wear basically every day.

This cozy sweater has some colorwork (which I’m intimidated by but tempted to try) that pays tribute to the rapids and gentle straights of the Arkansas River, but the majority is smooth-sailing stockinette in the round, which seems like a great balance to the colorwork sections.

Now all I have to do is choose my colors. I love basically every color Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok comes in, so this might take a while.
