Interweave Knits Fall 2018: Monomoy Dolman

When I was in college, I shopped at The Gap a lot too much. Frequenting the sales rack, I generally was able to find affordable wardrobe staples for much cheaper than their original prices. (I’ve had a green and brown floral tank top for over ten years that’s still in great condition and in my regular rotation—great job, The Gap!)

One item I purchased and wore all the time was this light heather gray jersey V-neck dolman sweatshirt. Super comfy and lightweight, it looked nice enough that I could wear it a little more dressed up, or casually with jeans or even leggings. I think that particular dolman found its way out of my wardrobe during one of my style shake-ups, but thinking back to it now I remember how cozy it was and miss the precise feeling of wearing it.

The Monomoy Dolman from Interweave Knits Fall 2018 reminds me of my amazing college sweatshirt. The shape is similar with its roomy armholes and fitted waist. What makes it way more awesome, though, is the traditional cable pattern on the front and back pieces that resemble the waves of the ocean. The DK-weight alpaca gives it fantastic drape as well. This sweater has a classic vibe with a modern take thanks to the unusual shaping that makes it comfortably oversized yet fitted.

The Monomoy Dolman’s simple ocean-inspired cables and unusual silhouette transform a preppy pullover into a chic modern design that’s ready for both the office and the weekend. It is worked from the bottom up in two pieces and seamed.
