Irina Anikeeva’s Incredible Style
Before she became a full-time knitwear designer, Irina Anikeeva had a career in management. She loved the achievement she gets from working with yarn, learning new techniques, and enhancing her fiber knowledge.
Over the years, Interweave has been lucky enough to publish several of Irina’s patterns, many becoming instant classics. Here are a few of them that we particularly love.
The Cartesian Pullover just debuted in the latest issue of Wool Studio, Volume VI. The welted pattern uses simple horizontal and vertical rib, along with saddle shoulder shaping, to create a textural fabric that’s stylish and easy to wear.
Irina’s Calderwood Pullover is a vision in reverse stockinette, with stockinette columns falling gracefully from a cable motif at the neckline and travel upward on the sleeves. Top-down construction ensures a perfect fit, because you can try it on as you go. Calderwood will never go out of style!
Menswear from Irina
Finding the perfect man’s sweater is always a challenge, unless you’ve got a pattern from Irina. She has a knack for designing sweaters men love to wear and knitter’s love to make!
The Iditarod Pullover is worked in the round with a gorgeous cable pattern with stockinette sleeves. Irina suggests a rugged worsted-weight yarn to bring out all of the beauty in the stitch pattern, and the turtleneck collar is the icing on the cake for this sweater, taking it to the next level in men’s style.
Irina combined cables and Fair Isle to create the handsome Bergen Peak Pullover. Staghorn cables and a striking graphic colorwork make it perfect for any man in your life. Just gorgeous.
The Mt. Auburn Cardigan might be my favorite of this collection. A cabled cardigan is always a standout in menswear, but this one is really special. It’s equally at home in the classroom or on a long hike. Your guy will look wonderful in this work of art!
I hope you’ll take a close look at Irina’s patterns; I guarantee you’ll find one that suits you or a loved one perfectly.
Cheers,
Kathleen
