Your Favorite Knits from Interweave Knits Fall 2022

Fall is peeking around the corner and I cannot wait to bring out my sweaters and cozy knit garments. There is always room in my wardrobe for more knitwear, and I already have some new projects in mind from our Fall issue. The Interweave Knits Fall 2022 issue is officially here and it quickly became clear that, while all of the patterns are popular, there are some definite greatest hits.

Brontide Jacket

With a rumble like low thunder in the distance, “Brontide” is a sound thought to be caused by feeble earth tremors. The Brontide Jacket, designed by Therese Shingler, is a great jacket for cool fall days, rain or shine. Plaid is a fall staple, and this piece puts a fun twist to the traditional plaid we know and love. The jacket showcases Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift yarn, which made from 100% Shetland wool and guaranteed to keep you warm.

Rutilant Socks

“Rutilant” is a term that describes an object glowing with a warm or red light. The Rutilant Socks, created by Anna Zhuravleva, will keep your feet warm and aglow with the perfect shade of red. Knit in Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering Kettle Dye yarn, these will become your feet’s favorite pair of soft socks. 

Susurrous Cardigan

The Susurrous Cardigan by Olya Mikesh is the Interweave Knits Fall 2022 cover project. It’s not your ordinary belted cardigan! The word “susurrous” often describes the sound of movement of leaves moved by the wind. This cardi features eye-catching colorwork, made using Universal Yarn’s Deluxe Worsted yarn. The stranded colorwork pieces alternate sections with two-color Fisherman’s Rib. You can knit this project in countless different color palettes, making the possibilities endless! 

Espalier Pullover

The namesake of this pattern, “espalier,” is a method in horticulture in which you train the branches of a plant to grow on a lattice, often flush against a garden wall. The Espalier Pullover, designed by Moira Engel, has a stunning cable work panel that emulates latticework patterns. The pullover is made with Cascade Yarns Cascade BFL yarn, making it extra soft. 

Anabatic Hat

“Anabatic” is a type of wind, specifically, one that is warm and blows in an upward direction. Meg Roke’s Anabatic Hat combines warm hues and angular shapes to earn its name. This colorwork piece is knit with O-Wool O-Wash Fingering yarn and is very soft, keeping your ears from the crisp air that comes with fall. The hat’s crown finishes in a pleasing swirl that spirals into the bind off.

This is certainly an issue that you don’t want to miss! Whether you are looking to sport a cozy hat, a fun pair of warm socks, or a sweater to stay bundled in while picking pumpkins, these patterns have quickly become some of my favorites and I hope you continue to share my excitement towards them.
