About Sunnyside Resort

Sunnyside Restaurant & Lodge has been a landmark on Lake Tahoe since the 1950s because we’re the ultimate lakefront place to eat or stay. With our location right on the shores of Lake Tahoe’s west side, Sunnyside has become the place to be on the Lake for locals and visitors alike.

Classic, lodge-style décor make each of Sunnyside’s 23 guestrooms and suites an inviting place to sink into after the day’s activities. Goose-down comforters add a cozy touch, and private patios and decks mean the crisp, clean outdoors is just steps away.

Sunnyside is a year-round destination and the guest experience can be completely wonderful and entirely different depending on the time of year you visit. During the fall, winter and spring, West Lake Tahoe is a sleepy place perfect for a quiet getaway.

About Laura Zander and Jimmy Beans Wool

Laura Zander, is the co-owner of market leading online retailer of yarn, Jimmy Beans Wool. Laura, along with her husband Doug, worked as software engineers during the dot-com era in the San Francisco area. When they saw the dot-com boom turning to a bust, they decided to leave their jobs, move to their second home in the Lake Tahoe area and begin a new adventure by opening Jimmy Beans Wool.

They started the business, which has been named four times to the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the U.S. list, with a $30,000 personal investment and have since grown it debt free to a booming operation that will sell nearly $7 million of product this year. Laura is one of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneurial Winning Women and was invited to the White House for a forum addressing the American Jobs Act where Jimmy Beans Wool was recognized as a notable Nevada business. Known as an innovator in the Needlearts industry, Laura has created successful national high-profile campaigns Stitch Red, Stitch Mountain and Beans for Brains, which focus on heart disease awareness, winter sports with a tie-in to Olympic athletes and higher education for students. She authored and launched her first installment of a three-book series drawing awareness to heart disease, Knit Red. When not knitting or working, Laura spends most of her time on the ski hill, running, playing tennis, or relaxing with Doug and their ten-year-old son, Huck.
