Hoxey Knitted Cowl Kit
Cowls are one of my favorite things to knit and wear. I especially love the chunky ones—they are super quick to knit when I need something fast and extra warm for the cold weather. I have so many chunky knitted cowl patterns saved to my “Favorites” list on Ravelry, the most recent of which is the Hoxey Cowl from Knits Winter 2016.
The yarn used is chunky, extra-soft, Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Grande and Grande Hand Dye; just one skein of each. I have a lot of knitting in my current mental queue, but I have laid claim on the yarn we have in the office to knit this cowl when all my other projects are finished! Hopefully that will be in time to wear it while the weather is still cold (surely that will be a while—it snows on Mother’s Day every year here).
This pattern uses a slip-stitch colorwork motif, and the combination of the solid and the hand dyed skeins help to eliminate pooling that might occur with the hand dye skein on its own. The result is a beautifully variegated cowl that changes colors but carries the white throughout. Gorgeous!
We have this cowl available in a kit, just in time for knitting it up for a loved one for the holidays, or for yourself as it gets chillier out there!
To me, there is nothing better in the winter than feeling the warmth of a cowl cover my neck before I leave the house. The 100% baby alpaca fiber of this yarn is definitely going to keep my neck warm in the Colorado winter/spring/early summer!
Happy cowl knitting,
