Houston Fiber Fest

The Houston Fiber Fest might be relatively young at just four years old, but don’t let its age deter you. This three day event is a Texas-sized celebration of all things fiber. This year’s festival includes classes by headliners Annie Modesitt and Mary Beth Temple, over fifty vendors, and oh so much more. Last year Gus Baxter spoke with folks behind the Houston Fiber Fest to learn a bit more about this exciting event. —Christina

Gus: Give me the overview and a brief history of the Houston Fiber Fest?
Houston Fiber Fest 2018 will be our fourth annual event. We are a 501c3 non-profit, completely run by volunteers. Though our festival is relatively young, it’s growing very quickly. Houston’s enormous fiber arts community was itching for a hometown fiber festival, and we have been blown away by the response and attendance at our first three shows.

Our Meet-Up Table is a great way to make new friends who share your interests. We will have stitch marker swaps, knit-alongs, crochet-alongs, and discussion topics throughout the day, as well as a dinner meet-up for anyone looking to join a group for a restaurant outing when the vendor hall closes. There is also a stitching lounge in the atrium where you can sit, have a snack, and unwind a bit.
