Hand-Knitted Holiday: Accessories & More!
All crafters know the best gifts are handmade, but what happens when you knit one aunt a sweater and the other gets a hat? Yeah, we really need to equalize our gift making. Which is why I personally stick to knit accessories for those memorable present get-togethers.
And it’s not too late to crank out a couple hats, mitts or stockings to make your holiday extra special. This year’s issue of Interweave Knits Holiday has all of the best knitted accessories for kids, the home, and adults.
It also includes a special section called Illustrated Knits: Inside the Colorful World of Jan Brett that includes an adorable dress based off the Little Badger Girl from The Turnip and a quick colorwork stocking inspired by The Hat. They also happen to be available as kits! The Little Badger Girl Pinafore Kit can be found here and The Hat Stocking can be found here.
I am especially excited about this story because The Hat was one of my top three favorite books as a kid. It also led me to believe that I would never have to buy clothes again because they would just stretch with me as I grew. My mom had to throw out so many clothes while I was at school. I’m sure she got tired of my argument being based off a fictional book.
If, like me, you are running out of time or your fingers are throbbing at the thought of one more stitch, Holiday includes a gift guide that has presents for the knitters (and non-knitters) in your life. Or you could follow my lead and treat yourself to a couple choice selections from the guide.
We also included a kit guide if you just can’t decide from all of the patterns and kits Holiday provides. There’s a wide variety of things to knit and even a felted animal kit if you’re feeling craft-venturous.
And, as always, we love to see your projects! When you make something from Holiday, please sent us a photo on Ravelry or to our Instagram @interweavecraft.
