Three Favorite Cozy Cable Knit Sock Patterns

One of my favorite parts of prepping for fall and winter is getting my closet ready for the colder months ahead. That includes bringing out my hats, mittens, scarves, and, of course, knit socks. Handknit socks are versatile and can be worn anytime, whether that be out in the snow with your favorite pair of boots or just lounging around the house. There’s something extra cozy about socks with cables, so we’ve compiled a collection of some of our favorite cable knit sock patterns to keep your feet comfortably warm and cute for the seasons ahead. Here are my three favorites:

Two Cables Socks

The Two Cables Socks, designed by Fatimah Hinds, use a Merino wool blend yarn for extra softness. This yarn choice makes them the ideal everyday sock choice. These socks are worked in the round, from the toe up, and use a peasant heel. They feature a wide cable pattern on the front with smaller cables following on the inside and outside of the feet, making for eye-catching details that the wearer will love.

Fredag Socks

Give a fun look to your cable socks with tweed yarn. The Fredag Socks by Rachel Brockman feature contrasting toes, heels, and cuffs, making them a fun pair for your collection. The socks are worked from the cuff down and are made with a peasant heel. These thick socks are perfect to wear with boots or can double as slippers to be worn around your home. Automata Socks

Cables don’t always follow a straight path, and the Automata Socks, by Lana Holden, prove this. This toe-up sock pattern features a unique wavy cable pattern, making for a great texture and movement throughout. The stitch pattern has a sideways shift every 20 rows, with ribbing on the back leg from the heel all the way to the top edge. Knit this pair of socks up using a blended yarn of superwash wool and silk for the ultimate soft touch.
