Finished Size 14″ circumference at upper edge and 5″ deep.
Yarn Ornaghi Filati Liza (100% mercerized cotton; 245 yd [225 m]/50 g): #001 white, 1 ball. Yarn distributed by Aurora Yarn.
Needles Size 1 (2.25 mm): set of 5 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Tapestry needle; markers (m); size A (2 mm) steel crochet hook; 9 size 4 mm beads for purse edging and tie; 2 size 6 mm beads for cinching tie.
Gauge 18 sts and 24 rows = 2″ in purse patt.
Leaf edging: Work back and forth in rows, joining as-you-go. Using the knitted method (see Glossary), CO 8 sts on Needle 1. (WS) Work Set-up Row from Chart across CO sts, working last CO st tog with first st of purse upper edge as k2tog (see chart), turn. Work Row 1 of Edging chart, working next st of purse edging tog with first st of leaf edging as ssk (see chart and Notes). Continuing from chart, work Rows 2–18, attaching each row to next st on upper edge of purse, and placing bead as shown on Row 18 (see chart and Stitch Guide). Rep Rows 1–18 seven more times—all purse top-edge sts have been worked into leaf edging and 8 small beads have been placed. BO rem 8 sts.
