Blogspotting: A Friend to Knit With

Leslie Friend writes openly and honestly about knitting, baking, business, and life on her blog a friend to knit with (www.afriendtoknitwith.com). Read on to learn why so many followers love this online community she has created.

Q: How long have you been blogging?

A:
Oh my goodness—hard to believe, but as of September 2017 my blog will turn eleven years old.

Q: What inspired you to start a blog?

A: In September 2006, I started my knitting blog as a way to chronicle my knitting projects. I had hopes that I could inspire others in the same way that others have inspired me. Combining my love of knitting, baking, and other crafty endeavors with my rediscovered love of photography was something that naturally came together.

I wouldn’t say that blogging has changed my life, but blogging has most definitely enriched my life more than I could have ever imagined. I love knowing that there are other individuals out there that are as passionate about knitting as I am. The connection with people all over the world is incredible, wonderful, and fills me with more joy than I can describe.

Q: What types of projects do you like to knit and blog about?

A: My most favorite knitting projects are sweaters. They provide just the stimulation and creativity needed for my passion of knitting. However, I always have a pair of wrist warmers in my “toast” or “toasty” patterns on the needles tucked in my knitting bag. They are easy, fast, and make the perfect gift. These free patterns can be found in the “simple knitting patterns” section of my blog.

Q: What post has been your favorite to write so far?

A: I have had many favorite projects. It’s the running joke with my mother. My latest project is always my favorite finished knit. My blog is full of other snippets of my life, though. And my most favorite post that I wrote would be from June 2015 when our dog, Trouble, came home after being missing for five weeks.

Q: Name one blog you love to read, and share why you love it.

A: Hands down, Purl Soho. It’s beautifully photographed, written, and always worth the visit to spark creativity.
