A Very Potter Halloween: Knitting Edition
Happy Halloween, fellow knitters! It’s a day of mystery, mischief, magic, and of course, Harry Potter.
One of my favorite parts of the books has to be Halloween at Hogwarts. Live bats, oversized pumpkins, and a cacophony of treats piled dizzyingly high—it’s enough to make any muggle jealous. Since my owl is a few years behind delivering me my letter to Hogwarts, I guess I’ll have to settle for a glass of homemade butter beer and some Potter-inspired knitting from Unofficial Harry Potter Knits this Halloween instead.
Whether you are searching for the perfect gift to knit for that Potter-head on your holiday gift list or wanting to add to your own magical wardrobe, you’ll be sure to find the perfect pattern within this inspired collection. So ready your needles and grab yourself a couple chocolate frogs as we take a look at some projects that are perfect for Harry Potter Halloween knitting.
I’m almost certain wearing these adorable mittens to your O.W.L. exams at Hogwarts would lose you some house points, but that hasn’t stopped me from casting on a pair of my own! Despite the fact that I’ve never knit a pair of mittens, tried magic loop, or even tried colorwork, this pattern was just too good to pass up. Trust me when I say this knit is too addictive and fun to put down!
If you find yourself wavering over adding the entire Unofficial Harry Potter Knits collection to your library, the photography alone is worth it. Between the inspired knits, the amazing locations, and some on-point casting for models, this is really a magical collection. The Severus Pullover is a perfect example. The snake-like cables that twist and turn over this jet-black sweater would be right at home under some Slytherin robes, and the sweater is perfectly styled on a model who looks like Snape!
The standout for the Unofficial Harry Potter Knits, Ginny’s Cardigan is a whimsical twist on a classic sweater. I can’t get enough of the lace owl detailing along the back. I love that other knitters have made variations of Ginny’s Cardigan on Ravelry in the different Hogwarts house colors, and there’s even an unofficial group for those knitting this pattern.
So whether you’re a die-hard Potter fan or a muggle knitter looking to add a little magic to your knitting, you’ll find it easy to get into the Halloween spirit with Unofficial Harry Potter Knits.
