Get the Most of the Favorite 5-Star Products Sale

I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for a sale. I’m powerless to resist a “Sale!” sign in the window of my favorite store or a “25% Off All Dresses!” subject line in my inbox. We usually have pretty good sales here at Interweave, which can be trouble for me. Our current $5 Off Our Favorite 5-Star Products sale has really lured me in—there are so many great products! Fortunately, the products on sale this week are things I need (well, “need” is a relative term).

I’m really excited about the addi Turbo Rockets Needle Set deal. Because I’m a beginner knitter, I don’t have a ton of needles—I just buy them whenever I need a specific size for a new pattern I’m working on. But wouldn’t it be great if I had the most common sizes on hand at all times? Then if I see a project I want to make, I can start right away and not wait until I have time to go to my LYS for new needles.

This addi set contains eight 32” circular needles in sizes 3 (3.25 mm), 4 (3.5 mm), 5 (3.75 mm), 6 (4 mm), 7 (4.5 mm), 8 (5 mm), 9 (5.5 mm), and 10 (6 mm), plus a handy carrying case with separate pockets for each size. The sleek finish and awesome “Rocket” tips—longer and more pointed than tips on other needle sets—make for fast and efficient knitting.

I’m still a pretty slow knitter, but it’s great to know that this set will be ready for speed whenever I am! I like the 32” length, too—it’s versatile enough to handle both garments and large accessories such as shawls. So whether I decide I want to make a fine lace wrap or a worsted-weight sweater, I’m set with this set (see what I did there?). And all my coworkers rave about their addis:  knitscene editor Hannah Baker overcame her fear of lace knitting with this set, and content strategist and super-fast knitter Lisa Shroyer loves her set.

So once I have my needle set, what should I make? I’m still working on my Killarney Tunic, but I’d like something smaller to work on when I need a sweater break. Because I’m a gal with an eye for a bargain, I looked on our site to see what’s on sale. Lo and behold, one of my favorite kits—the Celebration Shawl from knitscene Winter 2016 — is part of this $5 off sale! That’s serendipity, friends.

Knitscene Winter 2016 is in my top 10 favorite issues, and the Celebration Shawl is one of my favorite projects from the issue. It’s so fun! The zigzag lace and asymmetrical shape are fun variations on traditional shawls and give this project a youthful vibe. The pattern is mostly worked from a chart, which I’ve never done before; I’m really looking forward to the challenge! And even though this shawl is from a winter issue, I think it will be great for the cool nights and overly air-conditioned rooms of summer.

This kit comes with 2 skeins of the fabulous Manos del Uruguay Clara in the Petroleo colorway. I love the shawl in the original pink yarn used in the magazine, but this lovely blue is a better fit for my wardrobe. The kit also includes a print issue of knitscene Winter 2016, so you get the Celebration Shawl pattern as well as 19 other awesome designs. It’s a win-win!

I’m really excited about indulging my thrifty side with this sale, and I encourage you to do the same. You know you need more needles and yarn anyway—you might as well save a few bucks getting them!
