Emmer Wrap

Designer Susanna IC dreamt up this stunning wrap featuring a unique diamond motif with a twist for Knits Winter. The center of each diamond has a column of cables that extends beyond the diamond’s tip and across to the other side of the wrap. Knit in Valley Yarns’ Northfield, the Merino wool, baby alpaca, and silk blend creates beautiful drape and a warm finished project.

Thresher Hooded Pullover

Who loves a cabled kangaroo pocket? That’s right, we all do! Maria Leigh’s Thresher Hooded Pullover is a must-make for those looking to elevate an everyday garment. It’s a hoodie, but better. You have the cozy comfort of a relaxed fit and hearty wool with the little something extra in those juicy cables.

Ancestors’ Stole

The luscious, honey colored Ancestor’s Stole won my heart as well as yours. It really has it all! It’s lacy, it’s geometric, it’s richly textured, it’s generously sized, and it’s knit in a beautiful yarn on larger needles. Designer Sarah Shepherd, thank you for creating a Knits Winter project we can’t live without.

Plaited Pullover

If you haven’t knit a sweater with saddle shoulders yet, this is the pullover to put in your queue. (You won’t be the only one knitting it—it’s in many knitters’ queues!) Estefania Espindola has worked magic with a cable design that travels from the neckline to the cuff of this popular pattern.

Wheatsheaf Hat

I’m so excited to see this hat pattern in the top 5! It features one of my favorite unsung knitting techniques—smocking. It’s a surprisingly simple technique with impactful results. Designer Lana Jois uses basic knit and purl stitches mixed with wrapped stitches to achieve an allover pattern that is so much easier than it looks.
