Pattern of the Week: Cove Beach Pullover

In the Cove Beach Pullover, Cheryl Toy combines color blocking, lace, and a dot-stitch texture to create a gorgeous, unique sweater.

The yarn is Willow & Lark Nest, a warm-weather appropriate blend of merino, Tencel, and cashmere. And bonus: it comes in balls, so no winding! (This is seriously a trait that will make me lean toward one yarn over another.)

Color blocking is key here, and you can go with almost any shades. Cheryl choose Nest in bark and snow, but a pink and blue or gray and yellow would also be fab.

I love the classic touch of the always lovely feather-and-fan lace pattern. The dot stitch, with its well-placed purl stitches interrupting the stockinette in the nicest way, beautifully complements the lace.

The Cove Beach Pullover is loose-fitting and flattering thanks to the extra ease built into the design, so choose a size about four inches larger than your bust size.

Start this top-down project now, and the weather will cool down as the pullover starts gathering in your lap, perfect timing for late summer/early fall wear.

Pattern Details

FINISHED SIZE 34¼ (37¾, 42½, 46¼, 49¾, 53½)” circumference at underarm. Pullover shown measures 37¾”; modeled with 4¾ ” of positive ease.

YARN Willow & Lark Nest (69% merino wool, 20% Tencel, 11% cashmere; 126 yd [115 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): #208 bark (MC), 7 (7, 8, 9, 11, 12) balls; #200 snow drop (CC), 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6) balls. Yarn distributed by LoveKnitting.

NEEDLES Size 3 (3.25 mm): 24″ and 32″ circular (cir) and set of doublepointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

NOTIONS (m); removable m; stitch holders; tapestry needle.

GAUGE 26 sts and 36 rnds = 4″ in Dot st; 24 rows of Lace chart = 3¼” tall.
