I can’t wait to attend Yarn Fest 2022. Back in 2019, I got to visit the marketplace briefly (my wallet was grateful I couldn’t stay too long). This year, though, I’m gearing up for several days of learning and inevitable yarn buying.

Needle Felt a Curly Sheep Pin

I just about died when I saw the adorable sheep pins that Andee Graves has planned for this workshop. This Wednesday morning class is just three hours, and by the end you’ll have the cutest pin to gift or keep. The class will introduce students to creating 3D shapes on a base form, explain tips for working on small sculptural pieces in needle felting, and more. Some familiarity with needle felting is recommended, so I’d better get cracking!

Mock Hairpin Lace

Have you seen hairpin lace? This gorgeous crochet technique usually uses a loom to create long, horizontal stitches held together by a central design. In Linda Dean’s class, you’ll learn how to get the look of hairpin lace without the loom! Loop consistency, shaping, and how to use the technique with other stitch patterns will be explored.

Boob Camp: Hands on Bust Darts for Every Body

Sweater bust fit is just … challenging. But once I take Kim McBrien Evans’s class, where the focus is on giving your sweater the perfect fit regardless of bust size, I imagine I’ll have a much easier time! The class focuses on how to select the appropriate size of a pattern and gives students two types of bust darts to use for pattern modification.

Flipside Awesomeness: Reversible Cables

If there is one technique I’m constantly falling in love with, it’s cables. For that reason, Harry Wells’s class on reversible cables is right up my alley! The class will cover what kinds of cables can be made reversible as well as two methods for creating reversible cable fabric. You’ll practice several cables in class to get hands-on experience for your future, gorgeously reversible projects.

Fixing mistakes Interweave Yarn Fest 2022 — Any Snell’s workshop on fixing errors. Don’t get tripped up by fixable mistakes!

Fixing Mistakes in Cables and Lace

Every knitter knows that mistakes are inevitable. But with Amy Snell’s Saturday afternoon class, you’ll learn that mistakes don’t have to result in tons of frogging. Amy breaks down the process, showing you how to not panic and fix mistakes without having to undo entire rows of knitting. So don’t despair when mistakes appear; fix them with confidence!
