DONE

Bahia, centerpiece of Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Museum (in collaboration with Glenn Lehrer); Eleven Tears, 9/11 Memorial for American Express (architect: Ken Smith); The Golden One, 1200-pound (2,724,000 carat) golden citrine from Zambia. Still in business after 39 years.

DOING

Presenting beauty in nature.

FIRST PIECE

The first crystal I cut is 1-1/2 inches high, with warped edges and gray polish. It sits on my desk as a reminder of what is possible.

HEROES

Cave men, women, and the ancient stone carving civilizations.

DESIGN SOURCES

“The beauty of Nature inspires the heart to pursue the nature of Beauty.”

FAVORITE PART

Procuring rough stones, and being inspired by them, to bring their beauty to fruition, and being paid for my efforts.

THE GEM THAT GOT AWAY

The ones that got away, I came to realize I didn’t really want them, enough.
