Happy Sparkle Season! Make Festive Holiday Jewelry and Sparkle Into Next Year

The day after Thanksgiving is the official start of my own made-up holiday, Sparkle Season.

What, you’ve never heard of Sparkle Season?

It begins, as I said, the day after Thanksgiving, lasts until Valentine’s Day, and includes Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and my birthday in between. There will be festive parties, get-togethers, family dinners, romantic evenings, maybe even some dancing and enjoying bonfires. Those are all prime times for being sparkly, twinkly, glittery, and bright–and the easiest way to do that is with crystal jewelry.

There will also be cocktail parties, which are so special, they have their own jewelry: cocktail rings. And the best invention since cocktail rings and big sparkly gemstones to go in cocktail rings–and, of course, cocktails–is epoxy clay. With epoxy clay, sparkly crystals, and some ring bezels, you can achieve maximum sparkle in about 10 easy minutes. Nunn Design has become my go-to for crystal jewelry, because their ring (and pendant and earring) bezels are just right for blinging up with a dab of epoxy clay and some crystals. It couldn’t be easier.

Here are a couple of quick and easy Nunn ring designs to get you started. If you can’t find these bezels or similar ones, make your own!

Hold the Crystals

You don’t have to have crystals and gems to sparkle, though–square wire, textured metal, bright colors, and wire details are also festive. Below are some of my favorite wire and metal jewelry projects (with just a few crystals and gems here and there), ideal for Sparkle Season!

Now, go forth and sparkle in your crystal jewelry, New Year’s Eve through Sparkle Season, and get ready for Flower Season, coming soon!
