What We’ll be Looking For at the Tucson Gem Shows
Visiting the Tucson gem, bead, mineral, and fossil shows is part shopping excursion, treasure hunt, family reunion, and cultural experience. We look forward to it every year! The Tucson Show Guide is your guide to all the shows, but here’s a sneak peek at what we’ll be looking for during our week in the desert.

Discover Magenta Colored Stones
We expect to see many different magenta stones and beads in honor of Pantone Color of the Year Viva Magenta. Watermelon tourmaline stones and photo courtesy of Pala International.
Buy Oodles of Beads
Stocking up on beads and supplies is one of the important reasons why we attend the Tucson shows each year. The tables of colorful beads on display at Raven’s Journey Czech glass beads are just one of our favorite stops.
Collect Unusual Treasures
There are always interesting and unusual finds at every show, from this amethyst geode to gemstone wings and more. We take as many pictures as we can because we rarely return home with oversized items like this one.
Connect with Industry Friends
Of course, one of the best parts of the shows is catching up with readers, contributors, vendors, and other industry friends. Connecting with our people always invigorates our spirits and our work.
Absorb the Art
In addition to the amazing treasures for sale around town, we look forward to being inspired by the murals and other works of art that dot the city. Look for sculptures at Gene C Reid Park and cross the Rattlesnake Bridge over Broadway Boulevard.
Eat & Drink
Tucson is home to many inspiring restaurants, bars, and places to gather. We enjoy twists on international fare and good old-fashioned comfort food such as this sandwich from HUB. Tucson has been designated a City of Gastronomy by UNESCO.
