Helen's Apprentice Log — Day Nine, Saturday

Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist managing editor Helen Driggs spent nine days in apprentice mode with master lapidary and jewelry artist Michael Boyd at his Pueblo, Colorado studio.  This is her day-by-day log of her experiences.

I decided I had been relatively spoiled all week–what with the gourmet food and really cushy tasks–and I just had to do at least one really nasty intern task. I knew Michael was too nice to make me do something yucky, so I started cleaning and scrubbing all of the lapidary equipment in the shop. I mean scrubbed. A few hours later, I cut a few of my own stones, and Ryan picked me up for the drive back to Denver.
