Helen's Apprentice Log — Day Five, Tuesday
Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist managing editor Helen Driggs spent nine days in apprentice mode with master lapidary and jewelry artist Michael Boyd at his Pueblo, Colorado studio. This is her day-by-day log of her experiences.
A different spin. I was responsible for the documentation photos for a shipment of work headed out in the day's mail. I shot details and full pieces on a plain white background for a group of "production line" necklaces Michael had recently completed with the parts he had cast in India. I shot, Photoshopped, and saved the files, while Ryan packed the work, created a line sheet, and ran to the post office to catch the last shipment out. It kept us interns hopping all afternoon, while Michael worked away at his bench on a super complex bracelet.
