Favorite Project of the Week: Aladdin’s Lamp Earrings
Jewelry designer Kristi Bowman-Gruel and I have something in common; we both love to make lampwork beads POP in a beautiful design. In her Aladdin’s Lamp Earrings, originally published in the February/March 2013 issue of Step By Step Wire Jewelry magazine, Kristi shows off a gorgeous pair of beads by Etsy artist Beadaddicts in this fun pair of earrings. With a bit of colorful sari ribbon, the feature color in the lampwork beads comes into even stronger focus than when seen alone. It’s a terrific technique to play with color in an interesting way.
Another beautiful thing about his design is that you don’t have to use the exact lampwork shown. You could use any lampwork pair so long as the whole can accommodate the thickness of the sari ribbon. Here’s a complete list of what you’ll need to make your own Aladdin’s Lamp Earrings:
Tools & Supplies needed to make the earrings:
- 20-gauge copper wire, 24″
- Big-hole lampwork bead, 2
- Small big-hole copper bead, 2
