Beading Trends: Ooh La La Diamonds

Let the Interweave Knits Winter 2024 issue transport you to a winter wonderland of cozy knits! This remarkable edition features 14 extraordinary projects to immerse yourself in the uniqueness of specially crafted yarns.

As Marilyn Monroe said, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” I won’t deny she’s probably right, but I like to interpret it more broadly than the classic sparkly rock. It makes me feel fancy to use a faux diamond pen (affiliate link) with my special journal. And, I’m more likely to wear a beaded cuff with a diamond motif rather than sport a traditional tennis bracelet. Luckily for me, diamond patterns are popping up everywhere in beaded jewelry designs. It’s a beading trend just about anyone can get behind! Here are some ideas and inspiration for your next beaded jewelry adventure.

Gold Mine Earrings by Silke Steuernagel

Gold Mine Earrings

Silke Steuernagel has a trendy take on the diamond shape. Her Gold Mine Earrings use a peyote stitch variation. The bead weaving pattern incorporates CzechMates beams to create an Art Deco effect. The diamond-within-a-diamond design is eye-catching, especially with the metallic color palette. A single Gold Mine pendant on a leather cord would be a stylish accessory, too.

Pulsating Diamonds Necklace by Diane Fitzgerald

Pulsating Diamonds Necklace

Beading guru Diane Fitzgerald’s Pulsating Diamonds Necklace is a dynamic example of diamonds as design elements. The necklace is choker-length, making it on-trend with a variety of necklines. The colors are fantastic as-is or you can substitute your favorite combination. Imagine this design in Pantone’s Color of the Year, Living Coral, or muted tones of gray and silver.

Have you already experimented with diamond weave? Two European beaders brought it to the world and have developed a variety of ideas using the technique.
