Yarn Fest 2020: Crochet Cables with Bonnie Barker
Crochet cables and Bonnie Barker, one makes you instantly think of the other. Bonnie started crocheting as a young child, and her creativity has grown along with her love for crochet. And it’s in crochet cables that this crochet creativity has really shone. Now, she’s teaching at Yarn Fest!
In the Interweave Crochet Fall 2019 issue, Bonnie took cables to a new level of beauty with the Wheatfield Cable Capelet. Those cables! She calls these post stitch crochet cables the Wheat Cable, and they are the real star of this stunning capelet.
Do You LOVE Crochet Cables?
If you are looking for a little bit of help tackling the Wheat Cable or want to learn more about crochet cables in general, including the difference between post and vertical cables, Bonnie is going to be at Yarn Fest 2020 with her class I LOVE Crochet Cables. Don’t worry if you think crochet cables are too advanced for you. They are really easier than you might think. For this class, you just need to be familiar with the basic crochet stitches including the chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, half-double crochet, and treble crochet.
Bonnie will teach you how to create many different crochet cables, some using post stitches (Wheat Cable, 4-Post Cable, Honeycomb Cable, and Celtic Weave) and some that are worked vertically (Cable Stitch, Arrow Stitch, Low Front Ridge, and Knurl). By the time you finish this class you will have the confidence to tackle any crochet cable, and you will also take with you a stack of new crochet cable swatches, written instructions for crochet cables, and ideas of how to combine them together into beautiful cabled designs. Ready to start designing in crochet cables?
