Sara’s WIP: Emergence Shawl
The Emergence Crochet Shawl has been on my mind for quite some time now! I’ve finally started on this perfect summer shawl, and it is my WIP for the week.
I started thinking about this shawl many months ago when Kathryn White’s beautiful Garden Party Table Topper arrived in our offices for Interweave Crochet Summer 2017. I knew I wanted an article on filet crochet in the summer issue, so I looked her up on Ravelry. Her collection of designs includes so many impressive filet and lace pieces, I knew Kathryn was the perfect person to give us all her tips and tricks for this technique.
One of Kathryn’s projects in particular definitely caught my eye. I loved the Emergence Shawl from Interweave Crochet Fall 2013. You know when you see a pattern you love, and you convince yourself you just don’t have time for it? I did that for months with this shawl! Because I couldn’t stop thinking about it, I added it to my list of 10 Projects I Wish I’d Made for Yarnfest and promised myself I would make it sometime in the next year. Then the books team released Interweave Presents Classic Crochet Shawls, and lo and behold, there it was! The shawl I couldn’t get off my mind appeared in our newest collection of favorite crochet shawls for summer. It’s clear I’m not the only one who thinks this is a fantastic project.
So I’ve been happily crocheting away on this one with a giant cone of white cotton thread that I found in my stash. This really has to be my last WIP. I have far too many WIPs; they’re nearing UFO territory. I’m afraid to admit how many projects I have going, but if you follow along with this blog, you can probably guess it’s a lot.
How many WIPs do you work at once? Will you try the Emergence Shawl?
Let me know in the comments!
